Artist Statement
I always wondered where all my pain came from. I finally found it while painting in blue. Seeing all these paintings in blue soothed and gave me a place where I can feel the grief of my loss so completely. I took a lot of walks in San Francisco. I felt comforted by the change of the city as I changed on the inside.
I used to love walking all the way to Japantown and then back to the library where I could immerse myself in tons of stories of artists from different time periods. In the evenings, I painted these paintings one after the other. The series was completed in a matter of weeks.
I painted all my human pain in blue.
