The Artist Project – Queen Elizabeth Place, Toronto

I spent the afternoon today at the Artist Project! It was such a gorgeous day, the sun was shinning, people were running around and it was around a great afternoon
I just have to say that artsits in Toronto are just so amazing kind and down-to-earth. Often when we go to galleries downtown we seldomly get to interact with the artists themselves that a part of the artwork seems to be missing. Today juts about every artist stood up and talked to me about their artwork. I was asked many times if I had any questions about their artwork, and when I did they took the time to explain to me where their ideas came from. The notion of purchasing the artwork disappears and it felt like two people chatting about art, and I felt right where I need to be. Today I met an artist named Terence, who is a residence at the Sketch.ca collective on King Street. Sketch is a non-profit organization that provides space for homeless people between 15 – 29 a space to make art and share their ideas. I bought two wooden keychains made by Omar
Terence took one out from his pocket and told me that he holds that in his pocket as well. I would have paid $50 for that keychain.
This weekend I met so many inspiring people, and I feel like my heart and eyes widened. My perspecitve is no longer the same. All the artsits were so humble and down to earth. It proved to me that deep down inside all artists are passionate and true to their talent and that is universal. That makes me feel safe.

On Everything

I spent the majority of the day in my bed today. Funtimes : ) Went out to eat Korean purple rice with Jenn Bo Been for dinner. I took this chance to share some thoughts with her and catch up. Vodka seriously isn’t the same anymore. Last night was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time. I truly felt within my element again. I felt happy to be in my skin.
Because of the awesome night last night at 6 Degrees. The freestyle dancing, the “vodka-ing”, the dancing on the street, the talking to strangers on the street, the trying to not fall down when I got home and of course the laughing with the girls. I spent the entire day in my bed with the world’s best hangover. Though the amazing night totally made up for it.
As I watched Project Runway today I decided that if Carol Hannah (one of the three finalists) could continue to Bryant Park despite a severe stomach flu – that I really need to suck it up and try to finish all the freelance work that I promised to my clients this weekend.
So here I am
With three projects to go and it’s already 11pm. I can do this and I will do this. I’ve always busted my ass and today is no exeption.
